The SKILLSAFE EU project has successfully launched its first pilot trainings, marking an important step in strengthening safety knowledge and skills for professionals working with R290 heat pump systems across Europe.
The first SKILLSAFE EU pilot training took place at LG Electronics Benelux in Amstelveen, hosted by LG Electronics. The session brought together trainers from France, Greece, the Czech Republic, Belgium, and the Netherlands, creating a valuable opportunity for exchange between training professionals from different countries.
Participants showed strong engagement throughout the session, contributing to valuable discussions and sharing practical experiences from their national contexts. Feedback from attendees was very positive, confirming the relevance of the SKILLSAFE guidelines and training approach for professionals working with R290 heat pump systems.
Shortly afterwards, a second pilot training was organised in Madrid, again hosted by LG Electronics, where around 40 installers took part in a session dedicated to safe working practices for R290 monoblock heat pumps. The training provided installers with practical guidance on safety procedures, system characteristics, and correct handling practices when working with this natural refrigerant.
These pilot trainings demonstrate how collaboration within the SKILLSAFE EU programme helps equip installers and trainers with clarity, confidence, and practical knowledge to work safely with next-generation refrigerants.
More pilot sessions will continue to roll out across Europe in the coming months. Together, the SKILLSAFE EU partners are supporting safer working practices around R290 and building a skilled workforce for Europe’s energy transition.
