Following the launch of their strategic collaboration earlier this year, SKILLSAFE EU and Real Alternatives are joining forces once again to strengthen the skills of professionals working with alternative refrigerants.
From 22 to 25 September 2026, the first joint Train-the-Trainer session organised with Real Alternatives will take place in the Netherlands, bringing together trainers and technical experts from across Europe for an intensive programme focused on the safe handling of alternative refrigerants and the delivery of high-quality training.
The Train-the-Trainer programme is designed for experienced trainers and professionals who wish to further develop both their technical expertise and teaching methodologies. Through a combination of practical exercises, technical discussions and peer exchange, participants will strengthen their ability to deliver harmonised, high-quality training aligned with the latest European requirements for alternative refrigerants.
Strengthening cooperation on safety training
The event also represents another important milestone in the collaboration between SKILLSAFE EU and Real Alternatives, announced earlier this year with the shared objective of supporting the safe and effective deployment of low-GWP refrigerants across Europe. The partnership combines the long-standing experience of Real Alternatives in training and certification with SKILLSAFE EU’s work on developing European Guidelines and training materials for the safe installation and maintenance of R290 heat pump systems.
By working together, the two initiatives aim to promote harmonised training approaches, strengthen professional competences and support the implementation of the updated European F-gas framework, helping technicians and trainers keep pace with the sector’s evolving needs.
Building a skilled workforce for the energy transition
As Europe accelerates the adoption of natural and low-GWP refrigerants, ensuring that trainers and technicians possess the necessary knowledge and practical skills is essential. Initiatives such as the Real Alternatives Train-the-Trainer programme contribute to building a highly qualified workforce capable of supporting the safe, efficient and widespread deployment of sustainable heating and cooling technologies.
SKILLSAFE EU is pleased to contribute to this important initiative and looks forward to welcoming trainers from across Europe to another valuable opportunity for learning, collaboration and knowledge exchange.
